Sponsored Post~Cultural City Breaks or Time Off on the Beach

Beach· Been There Done That

21 Apr

The great thing about living and working in Europe is that you can visit so many different countries during your time off work. With so many budget flights available, there’s never been a better time to see so much of Europe. And, as long as you’ve got packing an overnight bag down to a fine art, it’s so easy to jet off to another country – even if it’s just for the weekend.

You can fit in as many city breaks as your schedule allows and see those iconic cities that some people living further afield will only ever see in the movies or on TV. Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Prague – you name it, you can get there within a couple of hours.

But cheap travel also gets you to the beach – for when you need a bit of rest and relaxation without feeling any pressure to do any cultural sightseeing. And a great option for a bit of respite from the gloom of the European winter is to jet off to the Canary Islands for a week. Even in December and January, the climate is still relatively mild on islands like Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote, but around the end of March and through until May, the weather can be ideal. It’s warm and sunny, but not stiflingly hot.

And a week in the Canaries is often available at a real deal. There are so many different hotels and self-catering options to choose from. For example, the Iberostar Papagayo on the edge of the busy and lively resort of Playa Blanca in Lanzarote has an ideal location. You’re close to the beach but you can easily get into the main town of Playa Blanca for evenings out. At the hotel there are three swimming pools, as well as a gym and mini-spa, and tennis and squash courts. You can be as active or as lazy as you choose. This is just one of many similar hotels that you’ll find throughout the Canaries – all offering great facilities at reasonable prices.

Although we all enjoy seeing and experiencing different cultural highlights, sometimes it’s great to have an out and out holiday too!

This is great!  We live in Germany and just had our first Spring Break for the kids here.  We should have planned to go to the beach!!  It was so cold here.  We had a good time in Holland that week, but next year….Canary Island is where I wanna be!!
