Meet Arena: Our Newest Travel Contributor

Blogging

22 May

Arena has long been one of those great blogger friends who became a real life friend, but more importantly, she has always been a blogger that inspires me. Her work at The Nerd's Wife is always creative, unique, and done with excellence. And her photography….drool worthy.! For those reasons alone, I am thrilled to have Arena joining us as a travel contributor, but I am also looking forward to hearing how she makes frequent travel work efficiently with a toddler in tow. I know her tips and creative spin on traveling with kids wll be a welcome voice here. Let's spend a few minutes getting to know Arena.

Quick! You’ve got 30 seconds before your toddler dumps your bag all over the airport lounge. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family.

I live in Dallas with my husband, three-year-old son, and our two dogs. I’m constantly on the road with my kiddo. We like to do it all – museums, zoos, theme parks, the beach. My parents live on the Texas Gulf Coast, so we like to spend most of the summer visiting them. Is it a bad thing when your toddler’s favorite activity is a road trip?

Okay, let’s do some easy questions:

Car or Airplane? Car

Beach or Mountains? Beach

Carry-on or Checked? Checked

Early bird or Night Owl? Night Owl

Museums or Hiking Trails? Hiking Trails

Now, let’s get serious. What’s your favorite trip you’ve ever taken?

Shortly after my son’s first birthday, our whole family traveled to Paris, France for a week. It was probably the hardest week of my life – traveling with an infant is no joke, y’all – but we made so many fun memories. I’ll never forget watching my son play on the floor of the Louvre surrounded by gorgeous masterpieces. Of course, that was followed shortly by a diaper blow-out and a poo-covered ride in a taxi cab, but we’ll call it a win.

What is one place you are dreaming of visiting?

Australia

If you could pick one quote to sum up your feelings about travel, what would it be?

“Not all who wander are lost.”
