My friend Jana over at Giggles, Glitz, and Glam has hopped over to share her tips for what to do when you find yourself seated next to a baby on a plane.
Over the past year I have flown twice with my sweet daughter to Georgia. Both flights were so stressful for because I was worried about bothering the passengers around me. Emily really did surprisingly well, but unfortunately I was stressed to the max and swore I'd never fly solo again after my last trip. Feel free to read my posts on flying with baby over on my blog.
I have been rather lucky thus far, and the people stuck by us have been pretty great but I've heard the voices of the other passengers as they walk by. I've seen the judgemental eyes. Shoot I've said some of these things myself back in my single days.
I want to share some tips with you for making your life as a passenger on a flight with a baby easier and more enjoyable. Not only will you make your flight easier, you will also be a total blessing to that baby's momma (or daddy).
1. Keep your opinions to yourself. I promise mom has already thought pretty much everything and your rolling some nonsense off your tongue is only going to add to her stress. Babies sense momma's stress.
2. Encourage momma. When you see that the mother is attempting to keep her child from crying, thank her for her efforts.
3. Feel free to talk to the child. This was a saving grace for me on many of my flights. Ems enjoyed the other passengers and thought everyone was her friend. For one minute I didn't have to be the entertainer!
4. Offer a helping hand. Help mom put her bag up and/or get it down. If she looks like she needs help, offer. I literally had someone help me put my backpack on (I was wearing Ems on the front). It is the biggest blessing when someone is kind enough to extend a hand.
5. Wear headphones. Seriously. I never really understood why so many complain because typically a good pair of headphones and some music will tune pretty much everything out.
Please be kind to those on your flight with infants. They most likely desire for the flight to go well and will try everything they can to keep their child happy. Be gracious and offer help when you can. Mom will greatly appreciate your kindness and it will ease her anxiety.

Hi there! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering if you knew where I could get a captcha plugin for my comment form?
I’m using the same blog platform as yours and I’m having problems
finding one? Thanks a lot!

That is very much the truth. On my last flight a toddler was screeching at the top of her lungs (and her twin joined in occasionally) for pretty much the whole 5-hour flight. The dad just sat there drinking his coffee. First time I was ever infuriated with a fellow parent traveler.
