Today I am happy to welcome Catherine, as she shares about this great family getaway in Birmingham London.
Birmingham with the Kids
Birmingham is a fantastic destination for a city break with the kids. Look past its reputation as a shopping mecca and you’ll find loads of family friendly attractions to enjoy together as a family.
There’s no need to worry about the cost of your family break when you find cheap deals on hotels. Getting the best possible price on your accommodation will also mean more to spend on having fun, so scour the internet for the best rates on family rooms centrally.
Get online and book that cheap deal now, then check out these amazing places that the kids are sure to love:
Thinktank
Educational attractions really shouldn’t be this much fun, but at Thinktank the emphasis is on learning through exciting play opportunities. Explore the different zones looking at past, present and future, and don’t forget to visit the amazing planetarium before you leave. If the kids have been especially good, you could treat them to a 3D movie at The Giant Screen for a mesmerising experience.
Sea Life Centre
Spend an afternoon at the Birmingham Sea Life Centre and explore the wonders of the deep. With feeding demonstrations all day, an interactive rock pool where you can hold crabs (watch out!) and touch starfish, and over 1000 sealife creatures to meet, it makes for an amazing voyage into the deep.
The Sea Life Centre also boasts a 4D cinema and soft play area, making it the ultimate afternoon out.
Cadbury World
Just a short distance from Birmingham city centre, Cadbury World awaits chocolate-loving families. Learn about the history of chocolate in the Aztec Jungle, Journey to Europe, Bull Street and The Cadbury Story zones, before enjoying taste tests and watching the factory floor in action. Little ones will love the Cadabra ride and outdoor African Adventure playground, whereas anyone with a sweet tooth will love the Demonstration Area and making your own chocolate flavour combinations at the Essense attraction.
Action Attractions
If you’re an active family then there’s lots for you to get stuck into. Try bowling or ice skating at The Leisurebox, climbing at the Creation Indoor Climbing Centre, or head two miles out of the city to try skiing, climbing, canoeing and more at Ackers Adventure.
A Show
When you’ve got the kids with you you’re unlikely to want to hit the pubs and clubs of Birmingham’s Broad Street. Instead, why not enjoy an evening out at a fun, family friendly show? Robinson Crusoe and the Caribbean Pirates is showing at the Birmingham Hippodrome between Dec 15 and Jan 27th, featuring the cheeky charm of Brian Conley.
If panto’s not quite your thing, don’t despair – there’s plenty on in the city to enjoy with the kids after dark. James and the Giant Peach is a great choice at the Old Rep from Nov 14 to 2 Feb, The Wind in the Willows is showing at the Crescent Theatre from Nov 28 to Jan 19 and The Gruffalo’s Child is on at Birmingham Town Hall from Sat 22 Dec through to 16 Jan.
Birmingham is a great choice of destination for a city break with the kids, so book that cheap accommodation now and get ready to enjoy all that this fun Midland’s city has to offer you and your family.
