I have to admit, after two weeks on the road, we’ve had our ups and downs. Every rain cloud has its silver lining though, or every sunny day has a waiting shower of garbage. It all depends on your perspective. So, from the road, here’s the Good News/Bad News Report.
Bad News: Hurricane Isaac seems insistent upon following us and our giant rolling sail all the way to St Louis.
Good News: The hurricane weakens overnight, giving us enough time to discover that our back tire was dangerously loose.
Bad News: Hurricane Isaac still has enough force to dump buckets of rain on our camper and leak into the bedroom right onto the middle of the bed.
Good News: We weren’t actually sleeping in the bed when the camper vent failed and leaked.
Bad News: In an epic rookie mistake, we have no idea what our exact clearance height is on the camper and we run it into a pole in a Walmart Parking lot.
Good News: We now know that our clearance height is about an inch and half taller than whatever was listed on that pole.
Bad News: The noise we made while running into the pole was so cacophonous that people actually got out of the car and pointed and stared.
Good News: We don’t live in that town and never have to see those people again. Plus, the damage wasn’t nearly as bad as it sounded.
Bad News: We don’t have enough amperage in the camper to run the air conditioner along with the multitude of other electrical devices we want to run.
Good News: The kids are getting a crash course in electricity and math, as they zip around the camper switching off the right concoction of devices so we can run the microwave.
Worst News Ever: Tonight my computer died. It made the saddest little sputtering sound and then just refused to do anything but blink pitifully. Upon further inspection we found pieces of chopped up pine needles lying suspiciously next to the fan. Apparently, getting back to nature is not good for everything. Like hard drives.

Awww…this post really took me back to our RVing days. 🙂 I too lost a computer while in our camper- but that was due to a electrical surge at a campground that also took our our entire circuit board. 🙁 Yes, RVing is quite an adventure. I hope to hear many more "Good news" progress reports.

Glad you found out how high your camper is on a light pole instead of a low bridge. Hope your computer is repairable without too much trouble (or expense).
