Doubletree at SeaWorld Orlando

Nuts And Bolts

16 Mar

There are a host of hotels that claim to be family friendly, but none seem to have met every detail quite like the Doubletree at SeaWorld.  With newly renovated guest rooms and a sprawling campus designed to envelop guests in a sprawling Balinese paradise, this is the perfect place to unwind after a fun-filled day at the nearby Theme Parks.

Location

Encompassing 28 lush tropical acres, the Doubletree is right in the heart of downtown Orlando and nearby to the areas major attractions.  Located next door to SeaWorld and directly across the street from SeaWorld Aquatica, this is the perfect place to stay with the family to enjoy these attractions.  Although both SeaWorld attractions are with walking distance, you can take advantage of the free transportation from the hotel to take you to SeaWorld, Aquatica, Universal Studios, and Disney.

Reservations and Check-In

When you step through the doors of the Doubletree at SeaWorld, you will be greeted with soaring palm trees and breezy, rotating fans that welcome you into an island paradise.  Depending on the time of day, you may also be greeted by a fairly long check-in line.  The Doubletree is enormously popular, and they don’t seem to have enough personnel to handle the influx at particularly busy times.   Of course, it could be the knowledge that you will soon be eating one of the famously indulgent warm goodness of the Doubletree cookies that makes the wait more bearable.  Be sure to ask for clear instructions to your room when you receive your key.  The campus is quite large and it is not readily apparent from your room number what floor your room is located on.

Room Options

The Doubletree at SeaWorld is like two hotels in one, with room options that will delight every traveler and special accommodations perfect for families.  The majority of the hotel rooms are located in the Tower, where guests on the upper floors can enjoy great views of the surrounding area.  The Tower Rooms are best suited for business travelers or couples who prefer seclusion from family activities.  The Resort Rooms are located on the opposite side of the campus and are ideal for families.  The Resort Rooms are situated around the family friendly amenities that include a children’s pool, a mini-golf course, outdoor game huts, and the children’s club.   A crosswalk to SeaWorld is located in this area, so that you can walk directly from your room to begin your day of fun.  The facilities are connected with sprawling green lawns that practically beg for kids to run and play.  In this area of the hotel, you have the feeling that playful laughter and activity is not only allowed, but encouraged.

Family Friendly Amenities

There is no shortage of family fun at the hotel.  Three pools, including a great children’s pool are available on the property, as well as mini-golf are great places to start for fun.  Games of pool, chess, and foosball are located outdoors underneath welcoming tropical awnings.  Fun planned activities are available all day in the Kid’s Club.  Ask for a schedule at the front desk so you won’t miss any activities.  Also, check out the Expedia Expert Desk, where they can help with area tickets and even provide you with fast passes to use for the popular rides at SeaWorld.

Dining Options

No matter your needs, you will find a dining option that fits your family and your budget on the hotel property.  Perhaps the most thoughtful option for families is Max’s Deli, where you can grab convenient and kid friendly food to enjoy in your room or on the nearby shaded patio.  Made to order deli sandwiches and Uno’s Pizza are available, as well as a huge selection of ice cream and treats.   Designed somewhat like a convenience store, you can find your favorite treats and eats to make everyone happy.  Breakfast items are also available and can be prepared in the breakfast area that includes a toaster and microwave with complimentary condiments.

Heartier fare can be found in the Bamboo Grille, where they serve breakfast buffet daily.  An all day menu, including a kids menu can be enjoyed inside or on the verandah.  Drinks and light fare is served at Bangli.

MMMM…cookies….Love the Doubletree cookies! I think it's great when a hotel puts all the families off to one side. Sure takes a little bit of the pressure off when it comes to keeping things quiet (Although not all the pressure, as my kids apparently think).
