Best Neighborhoods for Holiday Lights in DFW

DFW· Holiday Happenings· Texas

20 Dec

You've heard it before: everything is bigger in Texas and that is certainly true at Christmas!  Everywhere you look there seems to be plenty of shine to share.  Check out these Metroplex neighborhoods that are famous for their holiday cheer.

Lights Shine in Grapevine

Light Show Spectacular Grapevine: This nightly, 25-minute, synchronized, light display runs on the hour and half-hour and features a singing Christmas tree.  Join the festivities of the season at the Town Square Gazebo.

Gift of Lights at the Texas Motor Speedway: The newest lights display in the Metroplex is a drive thru experience with 1.7 miles of LED lights with hundreds of animated and sparkling displays.  Tickets are $15 per car on the weekdays and $20 per car on the weekends.

Grayson County Holiday Nights: Bring the family and drive through the sparkle, color, and animation of a holiday wonderland that is dedicated to the child in all of us.

Holiday Tour of Lights Famers Branch: Drive thru the historical park to enjoy an amazing display of over 300,000 twinkling lights! Just follow the candy cane signs!

Interlochen Arlington: One of the largest light displays in North Texas celebrates 25 years of making holiday magic for families.  Enjoy the dazzling displays of over 200 homes, as they are reflected in the lake.

Deerfield Plano: Drive thru this splashy light display that brings thousands of visitors each year.  Carriage rides are available through the light display.

All Aboard the Cleburne Christmas Train

Whistle Stop Christmas Cleburne: "Spectacular!"… "Enchanting!"… "Delightful!"… How else can you describe 3 ½ million lights twinkling in Hulen Park?  As a special treat, kids of all ages blow the whistle on the historic 3417 Steam Engine.

Prairie Lights Holiday Display Grand Prairie: The drive-through event includes more than 3 million twinkling lights in scenic displays set along two miles of winding roads. Don’t miss the Holiday Village midway through the drive with concessions, carousel rides, and Santa’s Store. Admission is $20 per car and up.

Highland Park: The premiere neighborhood in Dallas and includes beautifully (and professionally) decorated homes that can be enjoyed from your car or from a scenic carriage ride.

Carousel in Santa Land

Santa Land The Magic Forest Lindale: Just north of Tyler, this dazzling display boasts 2 ½ million lights lighting your path as you travel in the warmth of your car or take a ride on Santa’s hayride.

Know Before You Go:

  • Many neighborhoods have marked entry and exit points, so be sure to check you map to make sure you are arriving with the flow of traffic.
  • Make a mandatory bathroom stop for everyone, especially if you are planning to visit during peak hours when you could be stuck in traffic for a while.
  • Avoid the crowds by going early in the season, or sometime in the week after Christmas
  • Gas up the car before you go.
  • Bring along plenty of snacks and drinks.
  • Check the weather: many displays will not be lit just after heavy rain.
