Getting a package in the mail is always exciting, and in the adult world where the mail seems to only be bills and junk, it’s the best harbinger of postal happiness. You just never know what little treat is concealed inside the plain, brown exterior. My kids are especially susceptible to brown package excitement and have a palpable twitter anytime the rare package shows up on the doorstep baring their name. My four year old is particularly excited by any kind of mail (even bills and junk flyers), so I knew that he would love getting a box each month from Little Passports.
What is Little Passports?
Little Passports is designed to inspire kids (ages 5-10) to explore the world while learning about other countries and cultures. The monthly subscription features Sam and Sofia, who hop on their scooter each month to travel somewhere around the world. From that exotic locale, Sam and Sofia send a package packed full of features that explore geography, history, and culture.

What’s Included?
Any monthly subscription to Little Passports begins with the first month “Explorer Kit” that serves as an introduction to the product and whets the appetite for the adventures to come. Included inside an old-timey style cardboard valise are the contents to introduce Sam and Sofia and their travels. The contents include an introductory letter, a huge world wall map, a passport, stickers, an activity page, a boarding pass with an access code for online games. Future months will include country specific contents with stickers for the passport and suitcase, activity and information sheets, and even a souvenir.
What’s the Cost?
Little Passports comes in two editions (World and US) and has four different subscription options. 3,6, and 12 month subscriptions are available for a one-time payment of$13.95 per month (for 3 or 6 months) or $10.95 per month( for 12 months). A monthly plan is offered at $11.95 per month and can be cancelled anytime.

What’s the Verdict?
My little guy was excited, as expected, to get something in the mail that was just for him, but he was genuinely thrilled with the contents of the Explorer Kit. Just the suitcase alone was fun to carry around and he really felt a fierce sense of ownership with that suitcase. And by fierce, I mean, don’t touch my suitcase and nobody gets hurt. He was equally thrilled with what he found inside. The first thing he pulled out was the passport to which he remarked, “Oh! A guide to the world!” Very astute for a four year old, no?
As he flipped through the passport, he “read” the words to me. In his passport it said, “Dear Morgan and Mom, you are going on a trip across the ocean on a butterfly.” He looked at me with a glint in his eye and pulled out his giant map. “Let’s see where we are going, Mom!” I just love the imagination of little children!
~Look Mom! That's Russia!~
We spent several minutes looking at the map and pointing out the places we could visit and what we would see there. We talked about Sam and Sofia and built up the excitement of traveling along with them. The activities were just a bit too advanced for him, but he was more than happy to let his brothers help him explore, resulting in a little sneaky geography lesson for everyone.
~Love traveling the world (both real and virtual) with this little guy!~
After we had finished the puzzle, my little guy packed up his suitcase (with somewhat of a vengeance) and trotted off ready for his next adventure. The secret code from our “Explorer Kit” let us know that we were headed on a virtual trip to Brazil the next time the mail comes. We’ve got our “guide to the world” and we’re ready for anything.
~Little Passports provided my family with a three month subscription to the World Edition. They did not require that I express a particular viewpoint and all opinions are my own.~

This is great. I can’t wait until my 3yo is closer to 5 and we too will try it out. What a great idea for the kids, especially for us parents that like to bring travel home!
