Here we are! Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate. I’m still confused as to the legitimacy of the “so called”Orlando hotel because I don’t see a Mickey Mouse picture anywhere. Still, I’ll reserve my judgement until I check out the inside.
Would you look at that?!?! Faaaaancy! Ugh! Fancy is great for grownups, but that usually means no fun for me. Leave to my mom to bring me to a “be on your best behavior” hotel. Right now, all I want to do is belly slide down that hallway, but I can already see my mom giving me the look. I don’t even have to turn around; the crazy eyes are burning a hole into the back of my head right now. Typical.
Still no Mickey Mouse, but this is place is starting to look up. Apparently, they award kids who are able to resist the urge to butt-slide down the shiny marble hallway with a backpack full of treats and goodies at check in. The compass will come in handy, because from what I can tell this place is ginormous! I think I’ll put the crayons and coloring book to use later. Meanwhile, I’ll be keeping this puppy close. I like a hotel that knows how to show me some respect.
Good looking room. Nothing too fancy, but it’s not super tiny, and thankfully, there are two beds. One bed for me and one bed for mom means we’ll both be well rested, and I won’t have to complain that she snores and kicks only to be called a liar in the morning.
People, I think I just hit the jackpot! I don’t want to get too excited, but would you look at that view? Oh, who am I kidding? This is awesome! I am officially staying for life. Mickey Mouse who?
What to do first? I think I’ll take a few laps around the lazy river and then practice my backstroke on my way over to the waterslide. If I time it right, I think I can manage ten laps around the lazy river and 16 twisty slides before dinner. I’m totally up for the challenge.
Dinnertime. Just my luck, it’s looks like a “be on your best behavior” restaurant, but I’ll throw my mom a bone since she let me get in an extra lap at the lazy river.
Looks like I was wrong. I’m big enough to admit it. Trevi’s was totally relaxed, and they even had fantastic pizza and we got to eat on the patio. Best of all, the server took me over to the herb garden and let me pick some basil and rosemary for my pizza sauce. I never knew leaves could be so interesting or smell so good. As a bonus, I was totally picking leaves off of the plants and my mom didn’t give me the crazy eyes once.
What to do next. Should we hit the Kids Club for some arts and crafts or spend some quarters in the game room? I’m definitely saving some room in my schedule for Smores when the sun goes down, and then I’ve heard a rumor that there will be a giant movie screen by the pool. They’ve really thought of everything here.
The smores were divine and the movie was so fun! I didn’t miss Mickey Mouse even one time today, although I hear he is right down the road, so I might plan a cursory visit. I could totally get used to this place…wait, there’s a knock at the door. Milk and cookies! My life is complete.
~Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate generously paid for my stay at the hotel, but it's not like they paid me to say I loved it. As if they could! I am my own man and if I say I like something, I mean it. A few cookies cannot not make me trade my self respect, but a few more laps around the lazy river might.~

Love the Omni Orlando! Great resort, great golf, and yes, a great pool. Oh I can attest the cinnamon rolls from the coffee shop are also great. It's just plain great:)

What a great review of the Omni! I had to chuckle when I read the part about the belly slide through the lobby and so proud of you that you were able to restrain. Your mommy met my son in Dallas and she may find it hard to believe, but when he was about your age, we visited Biltmore Estate in North Carolina and he could not help himself from dropping along the trail from the parking lot to the home to pull himself along military style. So much for getting dressed up…. 🙂
