Morning brought warmer temperatures and happier spirits. Not only was the temperature higher, but the wind had died down tremendously, so the weather overall was much more enjoyable. With the warmer weather, we planned to experience everything the Carnival Park had to offer.
A new form of transportation |
Our first stop was toboggan rental. The day before the boys had such a difficult time traipsing through the snow, and even slipped and fell and time or two. So, thanks to our wonderful hotel staff, we learned that we could rent mini toboggans to pull them through the park. The boys were thrilled with their deluxe transportation and I found myself feeling a little bit jealous that they did not have toboggan in my size.
Playing in the winter playground |
The Giant Toboggan Hill |
The boys enjoyed the outdoor playground for a while and then we persuaded them to take a ride over to the family rides. Giant twelve seat rafts on three separate hills were available for a wild and woolly ride to the bottom. From the top of the hill, we could see out over the whole park, including a group of people playing a life sized table hockey game. There were straps inside the raft where we were instructed to hook our feet so that we would not fly out of the raft. Good advice, it seemed, as we all came out of our seats as we rode over the hills.
A family sleigh ride |
All the boys, Gary included, had to be persuaded to take a sleigh ride. With a little sweet talking, Mom got her wish, so that was our next stop. For a moment, with everyone snuggled under a warm blanket, I had a magical winter moment as we slushed silently through the winter countryside. Despite their earlier complaints, the male members of the family soon saw the enjoyment of the experience. I can truly say that although our noses were cold, our hearts were warm
